The Builder Assessment Review (BAR)

Builders, are you ready to join the elite rantks of the nation's top building industry professionals? The Certified Graduate Builder (CGB), Certified Green Professional (CGP) and other NAHB designations are your sign to clients and colleagues that you are a member of this respected group of professionals.
The BAR is your first step towards obtaining these prestigious designations.

For the first time in Tyler -- November 4, 2008

This comprehensive assessment will measure your expertise in the four key areas of the building industry: Building Technology, Business and Finance, Project Management, and Sales and Marketing.
Your results will show you the areas where your knowledge is strongest, where it is weakest, and will determine the courses required.

Texas Law Requires Continuing Education for Registered Builders
(Class Roster Below)

According to TRCC regulations, all builders are required to submit documentation of continuing education (CE). The number and frequency of education hours depends on when you registered as a builder with the Commission.

Builders registered BEFORE September 1, 2007 must complete 5 hours of CE every 5 years.
Builders registered or reinstated AFTER September 1, 2007 must complete 5 hours of CE within the first year of registration or reinstatement.

Builders,

If you want to send someone in your place to attend a class, that person must serve as a:

  • Construction crew supervisor or subcontractor
  • Work crew scheduler or subcontractor
  • Work crew inspector or subcontractor
  • Construction materials delivery inspector

To make it official with the TRCC, download this form, complete it entirely and send it along with your alternate when he or she attends the class. It must be submitted along with the attendance form.

Of these CE hours, one must address professional ethics; two must address warranties, standards or codes; and two may be general construction practices. All requirements may be met by participating in TABA educational seminars. Classes are scheduled for July and August (see below). To enroll, go to the Calendar of Events, select the class you want, and click REGISTER. You may pay online with your Visa or Mastercard, or you can mail in a check for your payment.
ALL CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED AND APPLICANTS ARE ACCEPTED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS.
If you cannot attend a class, you must cancel prior to the registration deadline to avoid paying for the class.
